About Us

In early 2020, the Toybox initiative was launched by a team of seven young adults to address a void in their community. Southeast Michigan is a major landing spot for refugees seeking their new home. Often, these families come with limited resources to supplement their growth or establish a foundation. While essentials like food and basic household amenities were already being addressed by amazing organizations, we hoped to bring joy to a different aspect of their lives, one that played a large role back home: the Islamic holiday season. The day of Eid remains an exciting day for Muslim children globally - a day highlighted by special foods, celebrations, and gifts. However, many Muslim children from unstable families are unable to receive gifts during Eid due to financial challenges.  The Toybox initiative was created to address this void and play an active role in making the holidays more special for these children. 

Our mission is to provide underprivileged and disadvantaged Muslim youth in the metro-Detroit and Baltimore areas and beyond with the opportunity to enjoy and cherish their Islamic holiday season by supplying toys and educational resources to nourish both their fun and free time.

• 2020: Raised over $4000 and provided Eid presents to over 100 children on the day of Eid, exceeding our initial goals by thousands of dollars and dozens of children

• 2021: Raised over $6400 and partnered with Muslim Foster Care Association to provide Eid presents to Muslim foster children in Michigan

• 2022: Raised over $11000 and provided Eid presents to newly immigrated Afghani and Syrian refugee families and established our organization as a 501c3 non-profit

• 2023: Raised over $10000 and partnered with various community organizations in Michigan to provide Eid presents to Afghani and Syrian refugee families

• 2024: Raised over $15000 and expanded our reach to the Baltimore/DMV region. Partnered with various community organizations Eid presents to Afghani and Syrian refugee families. Doubled our team size and connected with nationwide organizations.
